Katia Mossin

Katia Mossin, an author, architect, and urban planner, brings a unique perspective to Awakener. Born in Moscow, Russia, Katia is holding a Master’s degree in architecture. Her professional journey spans across the U.S., Eastern Europe, and Asia, where she has contributed significantly to architectural projects and urban planning. In addition to her architecture career, she is a respected educator, having served as a visiting professor of Architecture at Christ College in Bangalore, India. Her global experience, enriched by travels to over fifty countries, provides her with a deep cultural understanding, which she seamlessly integrates into her writing and work.

Katia’s spiritual journey began in 2008 when she started practicing Kriya Yoga under the guidance of Guru Shailendra Sharma. Her commitment to this practice deepened over the years, culminating in her role as an editor and translator of several of his seminal works, including At the Right Hand of God, Upanishad of Immortality and The Twilight Language of Gorakhboth.

Living in India since 2009, she has immersed herself in the country’s spiritual traditions, making her uniquely positioned to write about Shailendra Sharma’s life and teachings. Her publications also include contributions to Lost and Found: Stories from New York, a collection of essays and urban tales edited by the acclaimed writer Thomas Beller. Additionally, Katia’s published works, including translations of Kundalini: The Energy of the Depths and Song of the Naked Heart, reflect her ability to blend scholarly research with creative storytelling. Her background in architecture enhances her capacity to structure complex material, while her spiritual practice allows her to narrate with clarity and depth.

Ms. Mossin is an expert architectural designer and urban planner with credits for various complex development projects in US, Eastern Europe and Asia.

As a Senior Architect and Project Director she participated in successful renovations and rehabilitations of some well-known landmarks in New York, US, such as Grand Central Terminal, historic preservation and rehabilitation of Chrysler Building, South Sea Port Development project, Lincoln Center Master plan and renovation of US State Capitol.

In 2009 Ms. Mossin took a position of the Head of Planning at the IREO LTD, largest US-Indian Private equity fund, coordinating master planning and design process for two new sustainable townships on 500 and 200 acres in the states of Punjab and Haryana, India.

Being a skilled public speaker, Katia had presented a variety of topics at the local and international professional conferences and seminars.

She holds a Master degree in architecture from Moscow Institute of Architecture, Russia’s premier architectural school.

Katia’s interests include yoga, literature, urban planning, historic preservation, philosophy and  history. Several of her translations of Indian and French authors and Kashmiri poets are published in Russian and English. Work, research and adventurous spirit took her to more than 50 countries around the world.
